Commissioned to develop vision papers for Africa CDC, we supported the Forum in shaping G20 health and climate agendas with African priorities and expertise.
The Challenge
Africa CDC sought to position the continent as a proactive agenda-setter in global health diplomacy. With pandemic preparedness and climate-health at the center of international debate, Africa needed a structured platform to articulate unified priorities, ensure technical rigor, and influence both immediate G20 negotiations and longer-term multilateral frameworks.
Our Approach
We designed a dual-track engagement strategy that gave Africa CDC the tools to lead on two fronts:
- G20 Health Track — timed to engage directly with global decision-makers and shape negotiations in real time.
- Climate-Health Track — spotlighting Africa’s long-term priorities at the intersection of health and climate justice.
To operationalize this strategy, we produced vision and green papers, facilitated stakeholder consultations across African and international thought leaders, and crafted a forum design strategy that elevated the Kofi Annan brand while ensuring political resonance and legitimacy.
The Outcome
Africa CDC emerged with a sustainable and credible platform for African-led health diplomacy. By shaping global dialogues rather than responding after the fact, Africa strengthened its voice in decision-making arenas, ensuring its priorities on pandemic preparedness and climate-health became central to international negotiations.
